Kdii Supports Growth In Kenya’s Kakuma Refugee Area

KDII was among the first batch of winners of a competition by IFC, the Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF), the Turkana County Government, and UNHCR to receive funding that supports development and job creation in Kenya’s Kakuma refugee hosting area.

KDII demonstrated it’s potential to uplift the lives of host communities and the refugees in Kakuma and Kalobeyei areas as well as the greater Turkana County. KDII also demonstrated the ability to deliver and sustain social impact, particularly for women and girls.

KDII’s innovative business model has and will continue to have long term positive impacts on women and girls living in the Kakuma refugee hosting area because apart from the supply of re-usable sanitary towels, KDII has also created vast employment opportunities for women and girls living in Kakuma and Turkana County as a whole.
